Prof. Fletcher discusses the American Jobs Plan in recent Woods Institute Article
The American Jobs Plan is a $2.3 trillion federal plan that targets investment on a range of infrastructure projects and initiatives to “prevent, reduce, and withstand the impacts of the climate crisis.” In a recently published Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment news article, Professor Fletcher along with other Stanford engineering, climate, and geophysics experts discuss why climate change resilience is integral to the federal infrastructure plan, how underserved communities could be affected by the plan, and how investments could be planned and prioritized to maximize impact.
Professor Fletcher comments on how flexible planning can promote resource-efficient investment in climate-resilient infrastructure. Infrastructure investment plans should first serve our most vulnerable communities and plans should consider how infrastructure systems interact with society and build community resilience.
