Panel: The Environmental Justice in Engineering Colloquium
The Environmental Justice in Engineering Colloquium is a student-led initiative to highlight careers and speakers in equity-centered engineering practice. This two-part series is co-sponsored by the Civil & Environmental Engineering Anti-Racism Working Group, the American Society for Civil Engineers Stanford Chapter, Engineers for a Sustainable World, SOLE, AISES and SBSE.
This year’s colloquium was co-organized by Adam Nayak, undergraduate student in the Fletcher Lab, and included Dr. Sarah Fletcher as a panelist. The two-day colloquium event showcased potential career paths pertaining to equity and environmental justice across a variety of applications in civil and environmental engineering including water, infrastructure, energy, and climate.
April 11th panelists included Assistant Professor Sarah Fletcher, Emma Robbins (Navajo Project Director of DIGDEEP Water), and Jihan Gearon (Executive Director of the Black Mesa Water Coalition).
April 12th panelists included Darshan Karwat (Assistant Professor at Arizona State University and Co-Founder of the Constellation Prize), Kaitlin Harris (Field Engineer at DIGDEEP Water), and Lindsay Machamer (Project Manager at Austin Energy Green Building Commercial Team.
