Mofan Zhang Awarded Leavell Fellowship
Fletcher Lab PhD candidate Mofan Zhang has been awarded the Leavell Fellowship on Sustainable Built Environment for the 2025–2026 academic year. Her research develops Bayesian Direct Policy Search, an innovative decision-making framework that integrates learning about evolving uncertainties—such as climate variability and renewable technology costs—into adaptive infrastructure planning.
By extending this framework from urban water systems to global energy transitions, her work aims to guide investment strategies that are flexible, cost-effective, and resilient, enabling communities to meet net-zero targets while avoiding costly overbuilding or underbuilding. This research supports the Fellowship’s mission by advancing practical, multidisciplinary tools for planning sustainable infrastructure in a changing climate.
